Hi, I’m Judy Oskam — professor, coach, and lifelong pathfinder.
I’ve served as the Director of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Texas State University since 2012, where I help students and faculty grow as communicators, leaders, and changemakers. I have spent my academic career - at Texas State University and Texas Tech University - working with expert faculty to prepare the next generation of media professionals.
Earlier in my career, I worked as a TV journalist, video producer, and public relations professional. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Radio/TV/Film from the University of North Texas, followed by a master’s in Mass Communications and a doctorate in Higher Education Administration from Oklahoma State University.
My work (and mission) blends education, leadership, and personal development. I’m a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach, a Certified Tiny Habits® Coach, and a Thrive Certified Coach. I also serve on the boards of the Better Business Bureau serving the Heart of Texas and the Headliners Foundation. Through every role I’ve taken on, my focus remains the same: help people grow, lead with confidence, and make a positive impact.
That’s exactly why I started Stories of Change and Creativity. This podcast is my way of sharing real conversations with people who are navigating change, sparking creativity, and finding the courage to move forward—often without a roadmap.
I’m always on that journey too.
